Who runs it

The site is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Bureau of Economic Analysis or any other government agency, employer, school or recruiter.

How the pages are made

The 830 occupation pages, the state pages and the rankings are generated by software directly from the official data files listed on the methodology page. Explanatory text was drafted with the help of AI writing tools, then reviewed and edited by a human editor before publication. Figures quoted in the text are taken from the dataset when the site is built, so they cannot drift from the tables.

Editorial review

A human editor reviews the guides, the explanatory text and the page templates that the occupation, state and ranking pages are built from, and checks them against the original sources. Corrections go through the same editor; see the corrections policy.

The site reports what the data say. It does not give individual career, financial or legal advice.

How it is funded

The site currently carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and nobody pays to be listed or ranked. If that changes, this page and every affected page will say so.
